  • (2010-02-22) – Enterprise Investors Wins Emeafinance`s 2009 Best Private Equity Exit Award

Warsaw, 22 February, 2010 – Enterprise Investors’ (EI’s) partial exit from AVG Technologies has received emeafinance's 2009 Best Private Equity Exit Award – one of the publication’s annual Achievement Awards that recognize the best deals and the best investment houses in the EMEA region. Polish Enterprise Fund V, the EI-managed private equity fund, partly exited AVG Technologies in autumn 2009, generating a significant return.

“Our partial exit from AVG Technologies, a global producer of computer security software, was among the most successful in our 20-year history. AVG changed the scale of its business, with revenues increasing more than 10 times and the number of users 5 times – up to 110 million – since our investment in the company in 2005. It grew by 50-100% every year vs. 10% annual growth of its market. In terms of the number of users, AVG today ranks first in the UK, third in the US and fourth globally. We are pleased to see that our success is being recognized,” said Dariusz Prończuk, Managing Partner and Board Member of Enterprise Investors.

Enterprise Investors did not sell its entire stake in AVG and remains the largest shareholder because of its strong belief in the company’s further growth. AVG has a sound development plan that includes geographic expansion into Asia as well as other growth-oriented activities.

“EI put to work its 20 years’ experience in CEE private equity in what was one of the toughest years on record. At a time when most private equity funds were ‘battening down the hatches’, EI again demonstrated its ability to provide returns to its investors through profitable exits. The AVG exit, which generated a healthy return on EI’s initial investment, was the largest private equity exit in CEE in 2009 and one of the region’s largest in the last few years,” said Christopher Moore, Publisher and CEO of emeafinance Magazine.

emeafinance Magazine is a reputable, independent periodical that reports financial events in the EMEA (Emerging Europe, Middle East, Africa) region and is read by some 35,000 investment, financial and advisory professionals.
